ANAC purchases 25 Oshkosh Striker vehicles

The Administracion Nacional de Aviacion Civil of Argentina (ANAC) has purchased 25 newest generation Oshkosh Striker 6 x 6 aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) vehicles.

Oshkosh Airport Products Group explains the vehicles are on duty at airports in Buenos Aires and across the country, and 18 more are on order for delivery this summer.

The Oshkosh Striker 6 x 6 axle configuration, with Oshkosh TAK-4 all wheel and fully independent suspension, is said to have exceptional off-road capabilities.

It features a 697 hp, Tier 3 Deutz engine, which is mated to a seven-speed electronic automatic transmission for smooth power delivery enabling acceleration from 0-80 kph (50 mph) in less than 32 seconds.

The firefighting system includes a 3,000-gallon water tank, a 420-gallon foam cell, and a 550-pound dry chemical system for dual agent fire suppression capabilities.

The engine power pack components are readily accessed through walk-in doors on either side of the engine compartment for easier servicing.

Jeff Resch, Oshkosh Airport Products Group vice president and general manager, explains: “The Oshkosh Striker 6 x 6 delivers innovative fire suppression technology, unmatched chassis performance, and unsurpassed reliability.

“We are thrilled to have the newest generation Striker selected by ANAC to provide state-of-the-art emergency response at airports across Argentina.”

ANAC was created in 2007 and is the civil aviation authority of Argentina, and oversees all aspects of civil aviation within the Argentine territory.
