LS travel retail UK & Ireland has been awarded a seven-year contract to operate the main duty free shop and a new fashion store at London City Airport.

The contract gives LS travel retail UK & Ireland – a subsidiary of LS travel retail EMEA – operating rights to the main tax and duty free store as well as a luxury fashion and accessories store at the gateway.

According to LS travel retail UK & Ireland, the new stores will be tailored for the type of passenger that passes through London City Airport on a regular basis – notably affluent consumers and frequent business travellers.

The 283sqm Aelia Duty Free–branded tax and duty free multi-store will offer a range of high-end perfumes and cosmetics, premium alcohol ranges – including whiskies, champagnes and wines, – as well as an extensive tobacco range, with a strong emphasis on cigars.

Meanwhile, the 30sqm multi-brand fashion store will offer brands such as Hugo Boss and Mont Blanc.

The seven-year contract began on 1 May and both stores will continue trading and will be refurbished and rebranded over the coming months.

Fin Casey, managing director of LS travel retail UK & Ireland, said: “This contract significantly grows our UK airport presence, and we are fully committed to growing and developing this further.

“We are absolutely delighted and proud to have this opportunity to develop an extraordinary new shopper experience at London City Airport, and we look forward to working closely together to ensure that our retail experience fully complements the airport’s significant capital investment programme, improving the overall traveller experience still further.”
